Piano Lessons

Trent Schreiner

Piano Instructor

Trent grew up in a musical household and started piano lessons in the second grade. With the musical knowledge he gained through piano, he also taught himself baritone ukulele, guitar, bass, accordion and drums. Trent holds a B.A. in Music from Lawrence University in Wisconsin and played and toured with several bands before moving to Davis, CA in 2015. Trent has been teaching piano for pretty much the last ten years and is relocating to Olympia this month with his wife and two children. Trent loves teaching with movement and even including chants and other fun things, because it develops inner musicality and encourages creativity and improvisation, both with the voice and at the piano. Trent is a highly capable musician with a diverse musical background, and just a warm and inviting guy/educator.

Trent is enrolling now for private lessons in piano at our west side satellite at McKenzie Road Baptist Church @ 215 McKenzie Rd SW, Olympia, WA. We’re excited to have him join the team because we are just about all booked up for piano and he brings some wonderful musical expertise to the team!

Caleb Carr

Piano Instructor

Caleb is a life-long music student, performer, composer, and educator with a variety of musical interests and over eight years professional experience working in different musical roles, including six years as a private music teacher and four years teaching music for 4-12 year-olds at a public school. While committed to excellence, Caleb brings a down-to-earth, friendly attitude to his lessons.

From Caleb:

“One of my highest priorities is building positive relationships with students. I bring a smile to all my lessons and bring out the joy and fun of learning and making music. A safe, positive atmosphere inspires students to feel comfortable as they learn, take musical risks, make mistakes, express themselves, and explore the wonder and beauty of music.”

Caleb started studying piano with a private instructor as a kid and enjoyed composing original songs on the family spinet from a young age. He trained and performed as a percussionist, drummer, and vocalist in the 3-time State Champion Band and Chorus program at his high school and performed in the yearly musical theater shows. As a teenager, Caleb also picked up guitar and began recording original songs. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree, studying voice and taking piano and guitar classes. Caleb is currently working on a Master of Music Production degree from the renowned Berklee College of Music, studying under such accomplished producers as David Bendeth (Breaking Benjamin, Paramore, Vertical Horizon) and Enrique Gonzalez Müller (Kronos Quartet, Joan Baez, Los Amigos Invisibles). Caleb has had the honor of producing projects for a handful of artists since 2020.

Since moving to Olympia in December 2022, Caleb has enjoyed connecting with local musicians and serving the community in any way possible. He has volunteered as a songwriting mentor with The Bridge Music Program, tested out new songs at Rhythms Coffee open mic nights, performed at the Olympia Farmers Market, and taught private music lessons. In his spare time, Caleb enjoys playing table-top games, cooking, marveling at the trees and water, surfing, and hanging out at coffee shops.

Caleb is currently booked solid and on a waitlist.

Josie Borchert, MT-BC

Piano Instructor

Whether one's musical interests are in modern music or the classics, technique is vital. Learning how to use one's voice as an instrument in singing lessons with Josie will deepen our understanding of ourselves and the music!

Josie is a musician and board certified music therapist originally from North Carolina that plays the flute, oboe, and English horn. With a Bachelor's degree in music therapy from Appalachian State University, Josie brings a unique perspective to voice lessons. If you are looking to learn to sing as a form of therapy during your week, a release, to find peace and joy (all things we 100% support), you’ll love Josie!

It is their belief that healing can be found in self-expression, connection, and motivation through love of music. Josie looks forward to sharing and experiencing music with students and clients and watching how music shapes each individual

From Josie: “My belief is that a mentor-student relationship must have a firm foundation in love. Not only should we be supportive and nonjudgmental while we teach, but we should also have a deep love for our subject matter. Self-expression through music is a great love of mine, and one’s knowledge and skill within music allows for a broader range of expression.”

Perfect for adults with daytime availability, Josie is enrolling now for daytime lessons Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and Tuesday/Thursday evenings which are perfect for those with school and work responsibilities.

Josie is currently on a waitlist.
