Arts Walk!

We love Arts walk. It’s pretty much a celebration of all things Olympia! And all things Arts which is something of course we are a fan of as well. Arts walk is a great time, and we have been a part of it since the very beginning as an organization. And we’re committed to doing it every year! Many of our fine students will be at Rhythm’s coffee on Saturday April 26th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. even if you’re not playing, we hope you will come and support them, clap, buy a drink, and just celebrate Arts Walk with us!

Spring celebrations are going to be great! June 23rd at 7:30PM at McKenzie Road Baptist church.

This is a great time for students to celebrate on their hard work that they put in all semester and to have the opportunity to share their music with their peers, heard other students playing music, be inspired, have fun! Please mark the date down and plan to be there whether your student is participating or not, and talk to your teachers now if you want them to be playing!
“I really can’t stress enough how important these events are. Learning music really is truly a community thing. Yes, you can learn in private lessons and one-on-one and things like that, but by and large the musicians that learn to make music that people love to hear, the musicians that learn in such a way that they really have fun and are energized and excited about what they’re doing, usually are the musicians that share it with other people. Events like this exist specifically for that purpose.”-SD

Jazz 101
A great opportunity for students who want to play jazz and blues, but have very little experience with it, and want to learn not just how to do it but actually play it with other musicians on a regular basis.
“I designed this class with the consideration of how busy everyone is in mind. We meet once a month for an hour on Saturdays. It’s fun, it’s communal, and its great education. During that hour students are going to learn the fundamentals of jazz music including things like song form and different kinds of jazz grooves and feels, they’ll learn about chord structure and how we determine what notes we are supposed to play over different kinds of chords so that we sound good. And then of course students will have a chance to actually do it! We will learn new music on a regular basis and eventually even have an opportunity to play that music before others.”-SD
Students need to at least know their instrument solidly, be able to read at least at a basic level, and ideally should know at least their first three or four major scales.
This class is ideal for students that are already in private lessons because they will have much work to do between classes in order to enjoy it and learn the most.”
Tuition is just $45 a month for students that are not currently enrolled, $35 a month for those that are current students.

DRUM LAB w/ELI!
Kids, parents, you are NOT going to want to miss this! We get people calling and emailing pretty regularly asking about group drum classes. Eli, who is amazing, and the number one referred drum teacher in town, is often very busy and has little opportunity to offer a class like this. But we’ve been talking to him and he’s excited about being able to offer a class like this again, and we have set aside Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. brand new drum lab!

Drum Lab is a super fun, affordable, communal opportunity to learn how to play the drums, to learn how to groove, to learn the basic principles of reading drum music, in a small group format where you can make friends, and learn from an extremely capable, caring, and educated professional drummer.

Ideal for ages 9-12, this class is a great entryway into drums. All you need is a practice pad and a pair of sticks. If you want a bucket for your home, that’s an affordable easy thing you can grab at Home Depot, but we’ll have them at the studio for class.

Class size is limited, so enroll now! We will start as soon as we have enough for a class! Tuition is just $77 a month.
