Millie T. Martin, Piano Instructor (Remote/Virtual/Online Piano)
Millie is a seasoned professional with both the educational and real world music credenitals to lead you wherever you want to go with your music.
Millie T. Martin grew up in DC surrounded by the wonderful music programs of the Northern Virginia Youth Symphony and Fairfax County Public Schools. She started piano lessons at 7, and double bass at 11. She received a BM in performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music and plays everything from baroque to classical and modern music, musical theater and jazz. She received her Masters in Music at the University of Memphis School of Music as a full graduate assistantship at Memphis State while working with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. While in that role, Millie taught music theory, sight singing, ear training, and music history at the university level while earning her MM and working with the symphony.
Currently she is busy performing in baroque and modern music festivals and recording in Europe. She has toured with the baroque groups Divino Sospiro and Americantiga and also performed with the classical and modern orchestra The Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa. Millie has coached the bass students at the University of Lisbon and is teaching bass and piano at St. Julian’s International School in Lisbon, Portugal in addition to teaching her online students around the United States. Millie brings a lifetime of experience and love of music to her students and passes on the knowledge of the great teachers she has studied with throughout her career.
Virtual Piano lessons with Millie are a great way to go if you need to stay home for safety, or perhaps you just want to save the time and hassle of a commute. Millie knows remote lessons. In fact, a mom of one of her long time students we interviewed said that when COVID shutdowns forced everyone online and a lot of music teachers were scrambling to figure out online lessons, she was already well acquainted (she'd been teaching virtual and remote already for well before). One Pacific Lutheran University grad student (voice) recently commented that she learned more in a year of remote/virtual lessons than she did in her in person lessons at PLU!
