Evyn’s musical journey began when he was 9 Years old in Elementary school. His teacher at the time demonstrated the cello with two simple notes from the movie “JAWS” and from that moment forward he knew that his future involved mastering the cello! Since then, it became very clear that he had natural proficiency with the instrument and he genuinely enjoyed my daily practice routines.
Evyn was lucky enough to receive lessons from very early on all the way through high school, which allowed him to blossom and become the musician and mentor he is today. He naturally found himself in a leadership role at the front of the orchestra almost immediately, which taught him how to help the other cellists in the group and learn how to best serve his fellow classmates. Years later, a high school classmate asked him if he was willing to teach them privately and he humbly took on his first student! This was a paradigm shift that planted the seed for his future career as an educator and mentor.
Evan’s skills were also honed from earning a spot in The Portland Youth Philharmonic (PYP) in middle school; this organization is one of the finest youth orchestras in the country and the oldest as well! They played professional grade music at incredible stages all over the United States, which taught me what it takes to be a professional musician. Evyn will always be incredibly grateful for the education received while in this fine organization. After high school, he spent a year at the University of Oregon as a cello performance major before switching my focus to Therapeutic Music.
Evyn has always been intrigued by the effects of sound on our mind and body, especially with having to overcome my own bodily problems. Evyn has found his purpose in life is helping others learn how to be more efficient human beings by passing on wisdom that he’s been blessed with.
Evyn is enrolling now for private lessons in Cello!
