If you are looking for music teacher jobs, Music 1st is the place for you! Music 1st is a New Music School in town committed to excellence in the foundational elements of music through professional, capable, and compassionate mentor like relationships. Right now, we are looking for team members who can teach Monday evenings, Wednesday-Friday evenings, and weekends, so this is a great opportunity for those who have a Monday through Friday job or just want to teach on the weekends. We also do have virtual/remote openings for those looking to work from their home/studio.
We are currently seeking the following:
Brass Instructor (trumpet and F horn), Piano, Guitar, and Daytime drums/percussion.
Have fun, be a part of a great team doing important work, bringing meaningful music, joy, and new community into the lives of others!
So many reasons, but most importantly because if you care about people and you care deeply about music done right and taught right, Music 1st is the school for you. You should teach for us if you want to be able to focus on teaching, developing meaningful relationships, and the rest of your life, without having to be concerned about advertising, booking students, invoicing, etc. We handle all that. You just teach music well and be a great mentor! Finally, you should teach for us because we know what works and we’ve done it before. Sean-David McGoran (our founder) started The Tuned In Academy in his living room in Lacey about 10 years ago—and they are now a fully established non-profit academy of music with over twenty faculty serving nearly 450 students a week!
You must be highly capable on your instrument.
You must be able to read music at a highly proficient level, this includes drum parts for drummers. You should be able to read snare parts proficiently just as well as reading a kit chart or a lead sheet.
You must know all of your scales and chords (major, minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor, as well as all 7th chords). Drummers must know all of their rudiments.
No weekly commitments, just text your teacher as you are able/need to at any time with your questions, video of your progress on your assignment, etc.!
If you think you have what it takes, drop us an email with your resume to director@music1st.org and tell us about yourself.
